Community - Connection - Childcare

History:
Serendipity started PNO as a child care service for young members with families of young children five years ago. There is another way to look at the program: a party sponsored by the church for children while their parents have a night off. PNO is certainly a party! We have more children cry because their parents were taking them home than for any other reason. One child even asked if he could have his party favor bag when he was on his way out the door!

Facility: What helps make PNO a success is the amount of space at the church. We have a myriad of rooms available for the children: a Social Hall, a Fireside Room, Nursery Room, Kitchen, and an entire West Wing of classrooms. This will enable us to branch out in the future as the program continues to grow.

Volunteers: We have dedicated volunteers, many of whom enjoy the aspect of acting literally as grandparents! Our volunteers serve in various roles including-but not limited-to: greeters, activity hosts, craft personnel, and nursery monitors. The problem: we need your help as our program continues to expand! The best way to give back is to volunteer your time during one of the PNO events!

We want to provide our children with a variety of activities that excite them both mentally and physically. You will often see a rousing game of musical chairs or dodgeball; your child will also greet you at the end of the night with a craft they made and are excited about!

Safety: We maintain a strict 5:1 (adult-per-child) ratio as specified by law. We are also working towards having at least 1-2 individuals on hand during our event who are CPR certified and have first aid expertise. The safety of your child is our top priority!

*Ways to Help*: Volunteering your time is one important way of helping our program. However, we want our families to enjoy the service we offer and give them options when it comes to contributing. Below is a list of ways you can give back to Parent's Night Out:

Set-Up: Moving tables, gathering materials, and prepping the space before 6pm
Clean-Up: Throwing away trash, tidying rooms, and vacuuming the church after the event concludes
Crafts: Assisting with crafts for either the younger or older groups of children (craft explained prior to the event)
Music: Helping regulate one of our music sessions. If you are a musician, let us know!
Food Prep: Providing food items needed for that month's snack or helping out in the kitchen; can also help with food distribution
Toddler Room: Help in nursery room by monitoring the younger children
Infants: If you have an affinity for or specialize with infants, let us know!
Activities: If you have ideas for games or enjoy moving, you can always help during our activity portion of the evening
Registration Help: Help for an hour in the beginning of the event by logging in the children, organizing their items, and greeting the parents
